Stories and highlights
There's always something to celebrate at our school! From exciting events to proud moments and everyday wins, here are some of our highlights.
A year at our school
At our school, every year is filled with opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate together. We take part in exciting AFL clinics, dive into the magic of stories during Book Week, and honour culture and community through our NAIDOC and Harmony Day celebrations. We love welcoming our families for special events like Grandparents Day and celebrating milestones such as 100 Days of Kindergarten.
Our learning extends beyond the classroom with visits to libraries and museums, overnight excursions, and inspiring leadership camps. Students build confidence through public speaking competitions, shine on stage in the school choir, and show teamwork and spirit at our sporting carnivals. Through fun fundraisers and community events, we work together to make a positive difference.
At our school, every moment is an opportunity to connect, explore, and shine.
Our Yarning Circle
This year, Springdale Heights Public School was proud to create a Yarning Circle with the support of our Deadly Student Committee and the Albury Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). The Yarning Circle is a special place at the heart of our school where students, staff, and community members can come together to share stories, build understanding, and strengthen connections. It provides a culturally safe and respectful space for learning, reflection, and celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives. We use our Yarning Circle for class discussions, wellbeing activities, cultural learning, and important gatherings; a true symbol of unity, respect, and belonging within our school community.
Celebrating Reading
Book Week was a magical celebration at Springdale Heights Public School, as we came together to share our love of reading and imagination. The theme encouraged everyone to dive into new stories and explore the joy that books bring. One of the highlights of the week was our vibrant Book Week Dress-Up Parade, where students and staff arrived in their favourite book character costumes; from classic heroes to modern favourites! We were also delighted to welcome children from our local preschools, who joined in the fun and excitement of the day. It was a wonderful celebration of creativity, community, and the power of reading to inspire young minds.
Public Education Week
Springdale Heights Public School proudly celebrated Public Education Week this year with the inspiring theme “Ignite Your Potential.” The week was filled with excitement and community spirit as families were welcomed into open classrooms to see learning in action. A highlight of the celebrations was the unveiling of our beautiful new Yarning Circle, a special space for connection, reflection, and shared stories. Students also enjoyed a fun dress-up day, coming to school as what they want to be when they grow up; from doctors and teachers to astronauts and artists! It was a wonderful week that showcased our students’ creativity, aspirations, and the vibrant learning community that makes Springdale Heights shine.
“This school is more than just a place to learn, it’s a wonderful community where every child is valued and supported. Our child loves coming to school every morning and that says it all!” - a parent of Springdale Heights Public School
